As daft as it may sound, until I started training for a corporate triathlon challenge, I didn’t realise that when swimming front crawl, the power of travel should be coming from the arms rather than the legs. I had spent 25-odd years being completely unaware and kicking like crazy, tiring myself out. Once I learned to put the emphasis on a strong arm pull and leave the legs really just to provide balance, front crawl feels much easier and I can swim further before getting tired.
